Aly Bowers '06-'08

Aly Bowers attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 2006-2008.  She is going into the Hall of Fame for Softball.

Aly knew right away that a two year college would be a good fit for her. She chose Iowa Lakes because she wanted to be apart of the team from the start. As a Laker she was able to have an immediate impact on her team. It was also a good fit for her academically as she needed time to choose a major.

Aly did have a tremendous impact on her team from the start.  She is the single season record holder in complete games at 33 and games pitched at 47. She is also in the top 5 for career wins at 54, innings pitched at 434.1, strikeouts 430, games pitched 74, and shutouts 16. She led the team to a 91-29 record in her time at Iowa Lakes. She led the team in ERA both as a freshman at 2.03 and as sophomore at 1.3. Her proudest achievement is leading the team to the National Tournament her sophomore year. During her time at Iowa Lakes, Aly earned numerous honors including, 1st Team All-Region both freshman and sophomore years, 2nd Team NJCAA All-American freshman year, 3rd team NJCAA All-American sophomore year, and 2nd team NFCA All-American sophomore year.

Aly’s fondest memory while at Iowa Lakes was the trip to the National Tournament.

Not surprisingly Coach Bosch was one of the people who had the greatest impact on Aly during her time at Iowa Lakes. She feels she definitely grew both as an athlete and as a person because of him.

Coach Bosch had this to say about Aly, “Aly was work-horse in the circle. Not only wanting the ball, but demanding it at times. An athlete should always be looking to improve and that was Aly to a tee. If you asked me when Aly stepped on campus if she would accomplish everything she did, I may have been skeptical but she evolved into a leader, a competitor, and an All-American and I think she would agree those traits have only helped her in life.”

Coach Anderson and Trainer Kyle Norris both impacted her as well.

After graduating from Iowa Lakes, Aly continued her softball career at Bellevue University in Nebraska. While at Bellevue she was named 1st Team all-MCAC. She was awarded MCAC scholar athlete. She was named honorable mention NAIA All-Nebraska and MCAC Pitcher of the Week. Aly graduated from Bellevue with a degree in Sport Management.

After graduation Aly worked as the activities secretary for Norfolk High School for four years. She now works as a full-time mom raising her three children Blakely, McCabe, and Beckett.

Aly would like to thank her parents for being such a huge part of her success as an athlete. They knew how much the game would mean to her before she ever truly understood the game herself. She would also like to thank her sister for setting the bar so high for her as a pitcher and softball player, and her brother for being so easy going and never complaining when he got drug to another softball game or tournament.
