Lakers Sweep Day Two of Weekend Series

Lakers Sweep Day Two of Weekend Series

On the second day of the weekend series, Iowa Lakes would sweep the day with scores of 4-1 in game one and 12-2 in 5 innings in game 2. In game one, runs were hard to come by in the first couple innings for both teams. The Lakers broke the scoring open with a Marcus Pronay (Innisfil, Ontario) leadoff walk and advanced to second base on a passed ball. On a 1st and 3rd play, Iowa Lakes executed a double steal of 2nd and home, giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead. Iowa Lakes would tack on three more runs in the 5th inning. Holland would get the scoring going with a solo homerun to left center, bringing the lead to 2-0. Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) and Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) would both reach on walks putting guys on first and second. Alex Pavon ( Bellevue, Nebraska) would hit a shot to the left center gap scoring Adrians and Eskens giving the Lakers a 4-0 lead and they would never surrender it. Pitching in game 3 for the Lakers was Logan Ferguson (Idaho Falls, Idaho) who would go 6.2 innings pitched with 8k's, only walking three in his second start as a Laker. Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) would close the door to get his 5th save this season.

The Lakers bats came alive in the second game of the doubleheader tallying 6 runs in the first inning. The inning started with a lead off hit by pitch by Pronay and was followed by a walk by Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California). Chipper Holland's double off the left center wall brought both in. Adrians would single and Devin Brackin (Tampa, Florida) would walk to load the bases. Eskens would go opposite field for a double to clear the bases making the score 5-0. They capped off the scoring with an RBI ground out by Trevor Bormann (Algona, Iowa). The Lakers were held in tact by the Eagles staff until Adrians would blast a shot over the left field wall to make the score 7-2. The ILCC bats did not cool down as they would score 5 more runs in the 5th inning. Keane would lead off with a single and stolen base to get to second, followed by a Holland walk. Adrians would single up the middle to score two more to make the lead 9-2 and would come around to score to make it 10-2. Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would reach base by a walk and Bormann would follow Daliet up with a walk of his own. Daliet and Bormann would make their way into scoring position and ultimately would come around to score to make it 12-2. The Lakers pitching was led by Jacob Myer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) who got the ball in the final game of the series. Myer kept the Eagles offense under control going 4 innings, giving up 2 runs, with 4 strikeouts. Lucas Gardner would come in to shut the door in the 5th, giving the Lakers a sweep of the Eagles and splitting the series.
