Lakers and Trojans Split First Day of Double Header

Iowa Lakes hosted the NIACC Trojans on Friday for their four game series.  In game 1 the Trojans jumped put to an early 1-0 lead, but Devin Brackin (Tampa, Florida) would even things with when he would hit a homerun over the left field wall to make it 1-1. In the bottom of the third Spencer Keane would force a leadoff walk and would advance to third base on a sac bunt and fielder's choice. Chipper Holland (Tampa, florida) would rope a ball into left center for a double and score Keane to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. The Lakers would add another on in the 4th inning when Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) would single to right center and would reach to second base on balk. Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would double to right and score Bedell to make it 3-1 Lakers. NIACC would tie the game up in the 6th and would take the lead in the 7th when they would hit a 3 run homerun to left to make it 6-3. The Lakers had no answer in the 7th and NIACC would win game 1.

 

Frankie Cresta (Johnston, Iowa) would get the call in game 1 and would throw  4 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs and striking out 5 batters. Austin Charboneau (Idaho Falls, Idaho) would go 1 2/3 innings giving up 1 run and striking out 3. Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) came in to close for inning and gave up 3 runs striking out 2.

 

The second game of the day started out by a 3 run Trojan 1st inning. NIACC would add one more run in the second to make it 4-0 going into the 3rd. In the 3rd Iowa Lakes would erupt for 9 runs. The inning got started with a Daliet Walk and a Jimmy Mapakou ( Vauréal, Île-de, France) bunt single. The bases would load up with a Marcus Pronay (Innisfil, Ontario) walk. Holland would double to score 2 runs and Jayden Adrians would single to bring in one more to make it 4-3. Bedell would also walk and Alex Pavon would single to left field to bring in another. Trevor Bormann (Alona, Iowa) would force a bases loaded walk to bring in one more to make it 6-4 lakers. Daleit would come up again and hit a soft ground ball to first to add another run and push the lead to three. Mapakou would hit a double to left field to score two more runs and give the Lakers a 9-4 lead. Iowa Lakes would score two more runs when Holland would tattoo a ball over the scoreboard in left field to give the Lakers a 11-4 lead and that's all they would need as Iowa Lakes would win game 2 11-6.

 

Jacob Buffington got the start in game 2 and went 6 innigns giving up 4 runs and striking out 7 batters. Tomas Pinet (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) went 2 innings giving up 2 runs striking out 2. Chris Isensee (Shakopee, Minnesota) came in to shut the door and threw 1 innings striking out 1 batter.
