Lakers Force Split with NIACC

Lakers Force Split with NIACC

It was a pitcher's duel in in the final games of the weekend series with 7 runs combined for both teams. In game 1 Iowa Lakes jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Alex Pavon (Bellevue, Nebraska) singled to left field and would advance to second base on a sac bunt. Pavon would eventually reach to third base on an fielder's choice and would be brought home on a Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) single to right to make it 1-0 Lakers. The Trojans would score one run in the 3rd on a double to tie it up. There would not be any scoring until the 7th inning when NIACC would capitalize on Lakers mistakes and take the lead 2-1. Iowa Lakes would not push a run across and would drop game one 2-1.

Jacob Myer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) had himself an outing going complete game 14k's and only allowing 1 earned run.

In the final game out the double header, it was the same story, as the pitchers would shut down the hitters. The Lakers got the scoring started in the 3rd inning when Keane would single and reach second base on a sac bunt. Chipper Holland (Tampa, Florida) would bring home Keane on a RBI single. Devin Brackin (Tampa. Florida) would double down the third base line to score Holland and give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. Iowa Lakes would add one more run in the 6th when Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) would lead off with a HBP, Pavon would also get hit to make it runner on first and second. A sac bunt by Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would move the runners up. Bedell would score on a passed ball to make it 3-0 Lakes. The Trojans would get one run in the 6th and one run in the 9th to make it 3-2 , but Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) would stop the bleeding and shut the door to give Iowa Lakes a 3-2 win over the Trojans.

Evan Sankey (Appleton, Wisconsin) got the game 4 start for Iowa Lakes and would go 6 1/3 with 9k's and 1 earned run. Chris Isensee (Shakopee, Minnesota) came in middle relief and went 1 2/3 giving up 0 runs and striking out 2. Lucas Gardner came in to close and went 1 inning giving up 1 run and striking out 1.
