Wood Ducks Take Twin Bill from Lakers

Wood Ducks Take Twin Bill from Lakers

Iowa Lakes traveled to Century College to take on the wood ducks in a mid-week double header. In game one, Century jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a series of hits but Alex Pavon (Bellevue, Nebraska) would connect for his second homerun of the year to knot the game up 1-1. Century would take control of the game scoring five runs going into the 5th inning. The Lakers would TAC on one run in the 5th when Pavon singled up the middle and eventually reached third on back to back walks for Iowa Lakes and Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) hit a deep fly ball to right to score Pavon from third. Iowa Lakes would score one more time in the 6th when Trevor Bormann (Algona, Iowa) and Pavon would have back to back walks and would be brought home by a Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) single to right field to score Bormann to make it 6-3. Century added on two more runs to make the score 8-3 and would shut down Iowa Lakes in the 7th and win game one 8-3.

In game two the lone two Laker runs came in the 2nd inning when Drew Nixon (Markham, Ontario) roped a double over the center fielders head and a Bormann single up the middle scored Nixon to make it 1-0 Lakers. A stolen base and passed ball would help Bormann to come around and score and give the Lakers a 2-0 lead but that is all Iowa Lakes would get and would drop game two 12-2.
